This is a dangerous and lethal decision by QNAP to take these steps. It looks like I'm going to have to find 16TB of offline storage, somehow rsync the data off (without a working shell), then hard-reset and rebuild my QNAP, and restore it all from scratch.Īll because the firwmare update decided to unilaterally remove Optware/ipkg and physically destroy everything in /opt/. So I'm screwed, and since they removed Optware from the link above, and have removed it from all mirrors and caches, there's no way to recover. Using the 'admin reset' does not allow me to edit the files which get overwritten during a clean reboot, and I can't reassemble and mount the (clean) RAID6 volume I have on the device. Now I can't log in via SSH to my NAS, although the web login works. So the latest firmware silently (and aggressively) removed _everything_ in /opt/, uninstalled Qnap Optware ipkg, and thus broke my admin shell, which was running bash from ipkg, so /opt/bin/bash.
